Unforgettable movie “The Beverly Hillbillies”. This is a movie based on the 1960′s TV series. When Jed Clampett accidentally finds oil on his farm land in Arkansas, he becomes an instant millionaire. He brings the entire Clampett clan out to Beverly Hills. Being unpretentious country folk they are victim to every cash hungry con artist in the great big city.
Cry the Beloved Country. Moving redo of the 1951 film based on Alan Paton’s rejoiced story, in reference to a backwoods pastor (Jones) who, in 1946, makes his first ever trip to the city of Johannesburg in search of his wayward child. At the same time wealthy landowner Harris voyages there to claim the body of his child, who has just been killed. We see unparalleled work by Jones, Harris, and a largely foreign cast. Not as understated as the first making, however powerful in its own way. Cast includes Richard Harris, James Earl Jones, Charles S. Dutton, and Vusi Kunene.
Cuba Crossing is a unforgettable film from the year 1980. Our lead man Stuart Whitman becomes entangled in a scheme to take out Fidel Castro. Filmed in Key West, Florida, and at minimum the landscape is beautiful. Cast includes Stuart Whitman, Robert Vaughn, Caren Kaye, Raymond St. Jacques, Woody Strode, Sybil Danning, Albert Salmi, and Michael Gazzo.
The earliest from 1992 “Rampage”. Expectant Long Island housewife, unable to deal with married life escapes her spouse and picks up a simple minded football player on the street. Cast includes Michael Biehn, AIex McArthur, Robert Duvall, Marya Zimmet, Tom Aldredge, and Laurie Crewes.
Your treasured film, Cop Land, Freddy Hanlin is the Sheriff of Garrison New Jersey, a small town not too far from New York City. Freddy always wished to be a New York City policeman, but he is somewhat hard of hearing, so he never could. When internal investigator Mo Tilden shows up in town to look into possible police corruption, Freddie takes up the cause and starts to help out. Freddie is about to learn that the men he has always looked up to might be doing some very awful things.
“Night Nurse” Extraordinary, hard story of nurse (Stanwyck) who could not disregard unusual goings on in home where she works. Blondell adds zingy support and it is one of Gable’s most extraordinary early appearances. Cast includes Barbara Stanwyck, Ben Lyon, Joan Blondell, Clark Gable, Charlotte Merriam, and Charles Winninger.
My favorite motion picture, “Dodgeball”, A True Underdog Story – Peter is the proud owner of Average Joe’s gymnasium. His good fortune is running short and White Goodman, founder of gym franchise Globo Gym, wants to get the gymnasium from Peter. Things finish in a dodge ball contest in which Average Joe’s team must win for Peter to keep his much-loved gym.
Dracula Dead and Loving It, Dracula gets the Mel Brooks treatment in this parody motion picture which invests so much time retelling the familiar Transylvanian’s tale it forgets to be ludicrous. There are some good minutes for Brooks’ fans, but just not enough. Cast includes Leslie Nielsen, Peter MacNicol, Steven Weber, Amy Beck, Charlie Callas, and Anne Bancroft.
